I had to replace a number of items: scanner, printer and some software to make the move up from 32 bit to 64 bit. It always worked a little flukey, likely because I am faxing over a digital Vonage line. I also have an efax account, so whenever I had trouble with sending a fax via the modem, I would just use efax.
No one else seems to mind this, including mortgage brokers, banks, etc. But I do. So far I haven't had any problems sending faxes, but I likely will because, again, I'm sending them across a digital line.
But for what I want and need, this unit does the trick - and it arrived quickly and installed easily. I did have a question during installation and called Zoom and easily got a hold of a live rep who was easy to talk to and got me going quickly. That's hard to find these days. This modem works exceptionally well if you know what you are doing.
Windows 7 and 8 typically recognize the driver but I go to the Zoom website to ensure that I have the latest one. We use these for alarm notification via analog phone lines.
The only drawback hence four stars is that the voice feature is quiet. I have turned up all the settings within Windows and the volume on a call is still relatively low. If you are in an office it isn't a problem, but if you are out in the field with background noise, good luck hearing the voice.
If Zoom tweaked the internals to produce a better voice then the Zoom usb modem would be the best on the market even compared to the expensive multitech. Now hit Search.
